The E46 BMW M3 GTR featured in the 2005 Need For Speed Most Wanted game is perhaps one of the most iconic cars in racing games of all time. Posters of the German saloon adorned the rooms of many 90s kids who used to own a PlayStation 2 and finished the game. YouTuber Blacklist Dan made his dream a reality by replicating the car in real life. However, tragedy struck recently when his garage burned down, taking away his life’s work in the process.

Dan’s version of the car is considered the most accurate replica of the game’s car by fans. The right-hand-drive model received an engine swap, taking out the original straight-six engine for the S65 4.0 V8 engine from the E9X M3 to imitate the P60 4.0 V8 from the real M3 GTR, which is unobtainable by any means since only 10 of them were made.

His car also features near-accurate sports rims, something that is considered rare since the original M3 GTR uses centre-locking rims made for the race track.

The community is saddened by the news and has supported the idea of rebuilding the car. However, Dan is appreciative of the support and said that there is a possibility that he will “move onto a bigger and better project in the future” and “it is down to you guys to decide what happens”.

What was once an immaculate masterpiece of a machine, is now a piece of charred chassis. The fact that nothing remained of the car is a heartbreaking piece of information.

Here’s hoping that Blacklist Dan may recover from his losses.
