According to the official Apex Legends website, "Treasure Packs are a new lootable item that you can find in competitive matches of Apex Legends. Unlike other loot, these don’t go into your backpack. Instead, they’re collected immediately on pickup and you’ll get their contents when you return to the Lobby after your match."

There are a total of 45 packs to collect during Season 5, but you can only collect one each day. If you find another one in a match after you've already looted one, you can ping it for a friend to find.
Treasure Packs spawn randomly in regular chests, and you can get crafting metals, Battle Pass XP and Apex packs. Every five Treasure Packs will unlock the next Hunt as it becomes available to play.
They're not difficult to find, but if you miss any of the 45 Treasure Packs before the season ends, you can buy one for 25 Apex Coins. You most likely won't need to, as if you loot often and play out your dailies you'll almost always find one a day.
