Quinto La Huella
788 Brickell Plaza, Miami, 786-805-4646, QuintoLaHuella.com
The renowned sibling of this restaurant in Uruguay has drawn adventurers from all over the globe for 15 years. Now the long-awaited second location has debuted on the entire fifth floor of the new EAST, Miami hotel in Brickell City Centre.
Although not beachfront like the original, its other trademark is here: a ferocious giant parrilla (grill) burning oak in an open kitchen.
“The Miami location translates the spirit and essence of the original through the style, flavor, energy, people, soul and ambiance,” co-owner Martín Pittaluga says. “We see Quinto La Huella as an oasis within a concrete jungle that has a fresh spirit and similarly welcomes people to feel at home.”
Signatures include crudo Siciliano ($15), goat-cheese quiche with red wine-braised onions ($15), steak Milanese ($21), sweetbreads ($20), oven-roasted langostinos with curry potatoes ($25), squid ink and prawn rice ($26), grilled hake ($29) and rib eye ($36).
Another hallmark from Uruguay: lava cake oozing dulce de leche ($9).
Cocktails ($14) highlight three renditions of caipirinhas.
Three meals are served daily amid a sprawling, chic, sand-colored setting with floor lanterns and soft, organic accents, including Uruguayan artwork. High-rises soar over two garden terraces with pergolas — one next to twin swimming pools.
