“Nasty pants,” wrote McGregor in a tweet featuring a video clip from the UFC 264 Countdown episode of Poirier saying “I’m dangerous, man … I’m a nasty dude, I promise you … If there’s an opportunity, I’m gonna hurt you”.
The tweet was quickly deleted, as was another containing a picture of Poirier with his young daughter from his Instagram story.
In a series of further brief tweets mocking Poirier, which were also deleted, McGregor posted “Gonezo”, “A Carrot”, “I’m dangerous man”, and “I’m a nasty dude I promise you”.

He then took another dig at the 32-year-old American’s wife, Jolie Poirier, saying “your wife is your husband”, having insulted her in the build-up and immediate aftermath of last weekend’s trilogy bout.“Hey you guys! I don’t want to associate any negativity with my foundation so I’d like to take this chance to apologise for dustin’s wife trying to message me privately on Instagram,” he added.
Again, both tweets were deleted.
Earlier, McGregor had given an update on his recovery, writing “Just out of the surgery room guys! Surgery went excellent! Feeling tremendous! 6 weeks on crutch and we build back! Let’s go! God bless”.
He then posted a video to his fans further updating them on his condition.
“What’s up fight fans, ‘The Notorious’ here,” he said. “Everything went to plan, everything went perfect, I’m feeling tremendous. I wanna thank all the fans all around the world for your messages of support.
“I hope you all enjoyed the show. I wanna thank all the fans in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena. The place was absolutely electric. It was a hell of a first-round.
“It would’ve been nice to get into that second and then to see what’s what, but it is what it is, that’s the nature of the business – a clean break of the tibia and it was not to be.
“You know Dustin, you can celebrate that illegitimate win all you want, but you’ve done nothing in there. That second round would’ve shown all.
“Onwards and upwards we go team. We dust ourselves off and we come back better than ever. Let’s go team.”
