Two people were arrested 10 days after a shooting in Hollywood that eventually led to the death of the victim, Hollywood Police said Wednesday.

On April 9 about 11 p.m., dispatchers were called about a shooting in the 2000 block of Dewey Street. The victim was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.

The victim died Tuesday night, the same day Robert Brown and Keli Craig, his accused assailants, were arrested by Hollywood Police and U.S. Marshals in Plantation, police said.

Brown, 27, and Craig, 28, were each arrested on warrants for charges of attempted first-degree murder. Other charges will be filed, according to police, since the victim died.

The victim’s name and identity are being withheld under Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved constitutional amendment that allows crime victims to withhold their name and information from the public.

Additional details about the shooting were not available Wednesday night.

Brown has been on probation stemming from an August 2016 Broward County case where he was arrested on a dozen charges, including grand theft auto, driving without a valid license, aggravated fleeing with serious injury or death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving serious injury, among others, court records show.

In the 2016 case, an arrest report says Brown was driving a stolen car when Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies began to pursue him and he refused to stop. While he fled, Brown crashed into another car, then bailed and took off on foot before being arrested. Three people in that car were injured, including one person who was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital as a trauma alert, suffering from brain bleeding, the report says.

Brown was released from prison in August 2020, records say. His probation was set to last three years.

Craig and Brown are held at the Broward Main Jail without bond.
