Torpenhow is a village in the Allerdale district of Cumbria, located about 6 miles south-west of Wigton and 8 miles north-east of Cockermouth. St Michael's Church here dates from the 12th century and a rare example of an unspoilt Norman church. Torpenhow Village Hall, in the centre of the settlement, was built in 2003. It replaced the original village hall which opened in 1951 which had been based in an old M.O.D. building which was relocated from Greystoke.[1] Historically, Torpenhow was an ancient parish in Cumberland. Today, the village forms part of the Civil Parish of Blennerhasset and Torpenhow.
