Construction is underway for a three-level high-tech golfing venue slated to open later this year and create 450 full- and part-time jobs in Pompano Beach.

Topgolf, which bills itself as a “technology-driven modern golf experience,” will anchor a 223-acre mixed use development project underway near the former Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park location off Powerline Boulevard, just south of Atlantic Boulevard.

“We’re thrilled to be joining the prominent entertainment landscape in Pompano Beach,” Topgolf chief development officer Chris Callaway said in a news release on Wednesday. “Our Florida footprint continues to grow, and we’re excited to bring modern golf to our latest Florida locale.”

The venue will feature 102 outdoor climate-controlled hitting bays where players will hit microchipped balls. A video system measures where the balls land and tracks players’ scores.

Based in Dallas, Topgolf was created in 2000 and now operates more than 70 locations across the country.

Seven of those attractions are in Florida, including Miami Gardens, Doral, Fort Myers, Orlando, Lake Mary, Tampa and Jacksonville. A St. Petersburg version is under construction and scheduled to open this summer.

The Pompano Beach attraction will occupy 64,000 square feet and include a full-service restaurant with a full bar, rooftop terrace, outdoor patio, live music stage, and private event space.

Hours and fees were not announced. But the company’s website shows that the Miami Gardens location is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Prices vary by the time of day and by day of week. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, cost is $30 an hour from 10 a.m. to noon, $40 an hour from noon to 5 p.m. and $50 an hour from 5 p.m. to close. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, the hourly rate increases by $5.

Half-price Tuesdays feature $15, $20 and $25 hourly rates.

The project site will also include a Publix and more than 154,000 square feet of retail space. The Cordish Companies and Caesars Entertainment are developing the project, which also includes plans for residential, hotel and office components.
