Neil Schuberg of North Lauderdale set a state record by bowling a four-game series of 1,091 in the PK All-Star Singles League at Don Carter’s Tamarac Lanes.
Schuberg opened with a 299 game and then added games of 257, 245 and 290 in the Wednesday night league.
His three-game series was 801, high for the week in Broward County. It was his first 800 set. His average for the four games was 273.
“My spare shooting wasn’t real good. I missed two out of four. But everything else was strikes,” Schuberg said. “I found everything to be the way I liked it.”
In rolling his first 800 series, Schuberg missed a 10-pin on his final ball in the opening game. He left a 4-pin in the first frame of his 290 game.
An unusual thing about Schuberg’s achievement was that he had to bowl on four lanes. The bowlers switched pairs of lanes after two games, making it more difficult to get in a groove.
— There were three 300 games this past week.
Paul Endriss had a perfect game at Pompano Bowl, Dave Ulyicsni rolled one at Lauderdale Lanes and Lloyd Barfield bowled a 300 at Holiday Lanes.
Bobby DeMuth rolled his first 600 series, a 633, at Parkway Bowling Center. Chris Dearth rolled a 605 at Dolphin Lanes, her first 600 since incurring arm and leg injuries in an automobile accident 1/2 years ago.
