Raiden Mortal Kombat 11 looked deadly in the new trailer when the game premiered at The Game Awards. But why was one of the most popular characters in the franchise donning a red theme and looking evil when he's known as the God of Lightning and an ally?
Here's what we know of Raiden's backstory so far in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11.
Raiden Mortal Kombat 11: Backstory and How to Get
Fans of the Mortal Kombat series might have seen this coming from a mile away, but Raiden appears to be a full-on bad guy now. Looking back at recent entries in the series, Raiden's heel turn has been alluded to for quite some time in the story.
He's been corrupted and now wields bad ass red lightning, but it remains to be seen why he's fighting with Scorpion in the trailer. It might not have anything to do with the story, being just a gameplay trailer. Or, it's showing how Raiden's become too corrupt and is starting to turn on his own men that he recruited in Mortal Kombat X.
As far as how to get him in the game, it seems like we'll have this new evil Raiden as a basic playable character. Fans of the series are hoping for a regular version as well so they can create a good vs. evil Raiden matchup.
Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch.
