Pharah's father, Sam, is mentioned in a new voice line interaction between her and Torbjörn. The latest Overwatch patch added many new interactions that touched upon parts of the game's lore that were largely untouched for some time.

In the new Overwatch interaction, Torbjörn asks Pharah what her plans are for the winter.

"I'm going to head to Canada to see my dad," she said.

The response is a reference to Pharah being seen with her father, Sam, in the "Reflections" comic, which showed what the heroes were up to around the holidays. Blizzard later confirmed the man she saw was her father.

The response is interesting because it might also reveal it is tradition for Pharah to spend time with her father for the holidays. Because she was seen with her father in last year's comic, perhaps saying she is seeing her father for this year's holiday could mean she routinely sees him for the holidays.

Pharah cannot, or most likely has not, seen Ana, and her other living parent is living in Canada. If she sees Sam routinely for Christmas, their relationship must be good. It might be the only time she has a chance to see Sam, considering her job as a security chief at Helix International in Egypt -- seen specifically at the Temple of Anubis map. She might also feel obligated to see him not only out of the love she might feel for her father, but because he believes her mother is dead -- when in reality she isn't, and Pharah knows Ana is alive and well.

Little is known about Ana and Pharah, and the interaction gives players just a taste of one of the most interesting topics about the mother-daughter relationship. Pharah's voice actress recently said she wants a short for the two heroes to explore their story and specifically delve into the situation with Sam.
