Blizzard added changes to almost all support heroes on the Overwatch Public Test Region, which have the potential of helping a number of heroes out. Here is a ranking of all the support heroes following the latest PTR patch.
6. Brigitte
In terms of healing, Brigitte is in last place. She can heal teammates in the form of Repair Packs and her passive, Inspire. The former is an ability with a cooldown, however, and Inspire can only be activated when she attacks people -- and even then her allies need to be within a certain radius to be passively healed.
5. Ana
Blizzard buffed Ana's Nano Boost on the PTR. The change is interesting and gives more power to her ultimate, but it doesn't have an effect on Ana's healing through her rifle. Ana is a hero with limited mobility, and her only crowd control ability, Sleep Dart, has a high cooldown. Although her actual healing per shot is stronger than every hero in the game, she has a limit on how many bullets she can shoot in addition to the fact she must land every single shot -- something that isn't always too easy in Overwatch.
4. Lúcio
Lúcio can heal more people inside the radius of his healing aura. He can heal multiple people at once, but at a much slower pace.He received a buff to his ultimate, Sound Barrier, which provides more health than before. However, it will destroy itself in the same amount of time, meaning now it will dissolve much quicker than before. Lúcio is in a better state than before, but it is clear his healing doesn't match the main healers of Overwatch.
3. Zenyatta
Zenyatta did not get any changes on the Overwatch PTR -- but he didn't need them. Zenyatta is balanced and can provide good healing to match his DPS potential, in addition to the extra damage targets take with his Orb of Destruction. Zenyatta's ultimate, Transcendence, is extremely valuable because of how much it can heal his allies and because he is immune to all attacks in its duration.
2. Moira
Moira is a great healer, but she took a big hit when a a bug fix was implemented that took away her ability to heal through barriers. Moira is a versatile support hero, much like Zenyatta, who has great mobility thanks to her Fade. Buffing her healing regeneration will help her keep teams healed up without exhausting her resources as much.
Moira's value as an area-of-effect healer who can take care of herself and escape tricky situations makes her an important support hero.
1. Mercy
The changes do a great job at giving several supports the buff they lack to be as effective as Mercy, but it's clear no one can beat Mercy at her own game. She is the designated healing bot and is intended to be an accessible hero to players of all skill levels.
Her healing was nerfed to 50 health per second, but she remains the most reliable healer out of all the supports. She has no limit on her healing and has high mobility, making her the best healer even with the buffs.
