Outriders is a new co-op RPG from developer People Can Fly, and in true RPG fashion, it allows players to upgrade and customize their gear. Sometimes it can be hard to find the right weapon for you, so when you find the right one, you’ll want it to stay useful throughout your journey. Here’s how to upgrade weapons in Outriders.

How to Upgrade Weapons in Outriders

Complete the Salvation Mission

Before you can even attempt to upgrade your gear, the first thing you’ll need to do is finish the Salvation Mission. Get through the introductory section of the game and finish the first chapter to get to it.

Salvation is one of the first missions you’ll receive after arriving in the First City. That’s where the game really opens up, providing you a few more gameplay options.

During the mission, you’ll be tasked with retrieving an important item for a character named Zahedi.

Speak to Zahedi

Once Salvation is complete, speak to Zahedi at the First City base to access crafting and upgrade menus for weapons and other gear you’ll find in Outriders.

The options to improve rarity, raise attributes, mod gear, swap variants, and level up gear will become available after talking to him.

Upgrading Weapons

The menu will say ‘Crafting’ but there are five upgrade options on the right side of the screen. Here’s what each of the options does, and what materials you’ll need to perform the upgrades:

Use these upgrades to make sure that the favorite gun you carry around doesn’t ever become useless as you progress through the game.

However, you won’t be able to upgrade any gear to a level that’s higher than your item level cap. The game will tell you what your cap is when you use the Level Up option.
