Words are a way to upgrade your abilities and stats in Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139… There are 120 Words that grant bonuses to your magic (Sealed Verses), weapons, and martial arts (dodging and blocking).
In this Nier Replicant remastered guide, we’ll explain the mechanics of Words and list every word and where you’ll find them.
How Nier Replicant Words work
Early in the Nier Replicant remake, once you’ve met up with Grimoire Weiss, you’ll start collecting Words — buffs that increase your stats like attack power or magic defense. Assigning Words to your weapons or Sealed Verse attacks change their names. Your Nameless Blade will become a Pah Solir Nameless Blade, for example, meaning you’ve now added 2% attack power and a Poison effect to your default weapon.
You’ll pick up new Words as random drops when you kill shades, and different Words come from different regions (see our table below).
Words apply to three categories of your stats: weapons (swords and the like), magic (Grimoire Weiss’s attacks),and martial arts (dodging and blocking). You can apply different Words to each weapon or Sealed Verse (magic attack). Our table below lists the categories where each Word grants bonuses.
Assigning Nier Replicant Words
From your pause menu, choose Grimoire Weiss > Word Edit, which is where you assign Words to your various categories.
You can scroll through and choose Words for each individual weapon, Sealed Verse, or martial art, or you can apply pairs of Words in batches.
To save yourself a ton of time, though, scroll to the right and select “Equip best Words,” which automatically assigns the most powerful Words you have available.
