South Florida Morton’s The Steakhouse locations will remain open, despite the closure this week of another Florida restaurant location.
Houston-based Landry’s Restaurants took ownership of Morton’s The Steakhouse chain Wednesday. The Jacksonville restaurant was one of nearly 10 that closed in the change of ownership, the Jacksonville Times-Union is reporting.
The Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Miami and Miami Beach Morton’s The Steakhouse locations will remain open, even though an earlier statement released by the company that said that the West Palm Beach restaurant would close.
Employees of the West Palm Beach Morton’s The Steakhouse on Flagler Drive were sent home on Wednesday, only to be called back and have the store reopened on Thursday.
Morton’s generated about $300 million in sales last year, although the company announced in March it was considering putting itself up for sale.
Morton’s has 77 steakhouses in 64 cities across the world.
Landry’s Restaurants own other brands like the Rainforest Café and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
