“Loving” tells the true story of Mildred and Richard Loving, an interracial couple sentenced to prison in 1958 for violating a Virginia law prohibiting interracial marriage. Mildred and Richard fought against the sentence, eventually presenting their case in front of the United States Supreme Court, which invalidated laws prohibiting interracial marriage in a landmark civil rights decision. Written and directed by Jeff Nichols (“Mud,” “Take Shelter”), “Loving” stars Joel Edgerton, Ruth Negga, Michael Shannon and Nick Kroll.
