League of Legends loss prevented, or loss forgiven, is applied when a player loses a game during a time of server instability or if severe bugs occur within the game client. In other words, it means a loss was forgiven because of factors outsides of the player's control. Under what conditions does loss prevented become activated?

League of Legends Loss Prevented: What Does it Mean?

If server or system wide issues hits League of Legends players, loss prevention will become active and the following rules will apply.

  • Players will not receive a loss or a leave penalty.
  • Players will not lose League Points (LP) or MMR.
  • Players will still receive a win, but at a 50% rate for LP/MMR gains.
  • Players will not receive a loss if they are in the middle of their promo series.
  • Players will receive all of the earned XP for the game.
  • Stats will be recorded and saved for games, but they will not apply for any lifetime totals.

Note that loss prevention will only be activated if a larger server issue impacts multiple players. Riot has a "button" it presses to activate loss prevention mode. This means that personal connection issues unique to a player will not be forgiven.

If you come across the Error Code 004 or the Zero CS Support bug, there are solutions for these problems too.
