League of Legends champion Gnar received a short story to update the Yordle's background on Monday.

Although Gnar previously had a short story following the perspective of a hunter who sought out Gnar's enraged form, this new story gives a brief detailing of the Yordle in his original era.

The League of Legends story introduces readers to pre-Freljord Gnar and explains how Gnar came to find his signature weapon. Through the character's adventurous nature and love for rock foraging, he unearths what would become his boomerang, or the jawbone of a drüvask, the type of boar Sejuani rides.

When a looming threat comes to Gnar's homeland, he is driven into the mountains to seek wiser creatures. The Yordle is able to find them through his hunting expertise, but by doing so, also encounters a creature from the Void. This horned, single-eyed creature causes Gnar to fully rage for the first time, morphing him from the small furry Yordle to an angry, giant beast.

"All he could see was the monster. In a flash, he was in the air, leaping toward it. In one paw, he grasped a snowball… or so he thought. In fact, it was a boulder plucked from the mountainside, for Gnar had grown as large as the big white yordles. He would send this monster back where it came from, by walloping its face!"

Before he could attack, however, Gnar is frozen and placed into a deep slumber, only to wake after much time has passed. Upon doing so, the Yordle happily plucks his boomerang from the snow and scurries off to find new adventures.

Gnar's new updated lore comes alongside new stories for both Vel'Koz and Nunu following Nunu's rework
