Lake Worth teenager Alexa Pano won the Kathy Whitworth Golf Invitational by carding a two-day total of 1-under par, 141 at Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

Pano, 15, edged defending champion Bohyun Park, of Farmer’s Branch, Texas, for the championship in her third time playing in the two-day event that featured 72 of the top juniors

“This is my third year playing in Kathy’s event and I love this course it is really challenging,” Pano said after her round. “The weather makes it really hard, but I have always enjoyed coming out here.”

The victory also punched her ticket with an exemption into this year’s LPGA Volunteers of America Classic on Oct. 1-4 in Texas.

‘This means a lot, especially getting that LPGA Tour exemption,” Pano said.

Earlier in the year, she won her second consecutive Ione D. Jones/Doherty Women’s Amateur Championship at Coral Ridge Country Club and her third title in four years.

The Kathy Whitworth Invitational was established in 1999 with the goal of providing talented junior girl golfers the opportunity to participate at the highest tier of competitive golf on a premier championship course and to generate funds to support the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County.

Past alumni of the tournament have played in college and the LPGA, including Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Nelly Korda, Jessica Korda, Christina Kim, Jane Rah, Brittany Lang and many more.
