Jack Goggin Obituary, Death Cause –  Dave Wagner, another coworker and host on 90.9, expressed his condolences on the demise of their mutual friend and colleague. “I am so saddened by the passing of my dear friend and colleague,” Since we first met in 1980, when WQRS (a classical music station in Detroit that had been in operation for more than 30 years) moved to a 24-hour operation, it seems as though we had known each other for our entire lives.

I started working there a week after Jack did, and we were good friends despite the several ownership changes that occurred at that station before it went off the air in 1997. Jack Goggin, a coworker, a lifelong friend, and a WRCJ host, went away at his home after a protracted illness this past week. His passing came after he had been hospitalized for a number of years. His age was 68. Jack was a consummate professional and a cinematic music fan who was adored by a large number of music aficionados in the Metro Detroit area. Not only will his family here at 90.9 and Detroit Public Television miss him dearly, but so will all of those in our community who faithfully followed him throughout his time with the station. He will be sadly missed.

Over the course of several decades, Jack broadcast over the local radio stations in the Metro Detroit area, sharing his enthusiasm for music. In 2005, he became the dynamic host of the long-running Sunday evening show “Film Classics with Jack Goggin,” which is a weekly radio program that lasts for one hour and is dedicated to music that has been written for motion movies. He joined 90.9 in 2005. The majority of the concert was comprised of orchestral music ranging from the early 1930s all the way up to the present day. The early 1930s marked the commencement of talking pictures as well as the beginning of background scoring.
