The IRS will begin taking appointments for taxpayers to get help at the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center in West Palm Beach.
Until now, people had been lining up as early as 4 a.m. for in-person help regarding identity theft, tax payments and other issues, said U.S. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton.
“The ability to make appointments for tax assistance in West Palm Beach will help Floridians avoid taking off work and making multiple trips,” Deutch said in a news release.
The appointment system is part of a pilot program established at IRS offices with high traffic, including one last year in Plantation.
To schedule an appointment, call 1-844-545-5640. The West Palm Beach office is at 1700 Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard.
