If you're not one of the players that automatically goes into a game and mutes all, you've encountered your fair share of toxic League players with poor/negative attitudes. It may surprise you, but it's possible to avoid and to untilt your teammates through a few simple steps.
Stay Friendly
It's the simple things that can go a long way. Stay friendly with your team and tell them gj when it's deserved. They're more likely to listen to you, even if a call goes bad, because you've been nice to them.
Even if they're losing lane, just tell them not to feed because another lane is winning.
Three Times is the limit!
Pinging for objectives, when you need help, or if you're going in is great, but don't try to ping it more than three times! Pinging too much can tilt some people or even make others rage. Once may not be enough, but anything more than three sounds like you yourself may be tilted.
Talk to the Feeding or Tilted Person
If someone is feeding or tilting, spend a minute to talk to them when you're walking back into lane or when you find a free moment. Everyone has their good and bad games. Don't go and spam ping them, and don't start being toxic to them. It will only anger them and cause them to do worse or purposely feed the enemy team.
No one likes to be bullied.
Tell them to play smart, even if it means giving up first turret so they can farm safely at their Tier 2 turret.
Don't play the blame game. Everyone makes mistakes. Just suck it up because it already happened, and try to play better by being smarter. It's a team game. One mistake may hurt, but you can always come back.
Teammate is AFK Farming
Depending on your Elo and team comp, you may have a laner that is AFK farming a lane.
You have to learn to play around it if they refuse to group. You may all have to farm, or it may be a good time for each lane to manage their own waves while the support and jungler set up Baron or dragon through vision control. Needless to say, play it smart.
Team is Toxic
If your team is toxic, politely request they stop fighting. If they continue, tell the members to mute each other, and be the person they listen to even if one of them remains childish throughout.
Take Control
I've had plenty of friends and duo partners that don't like to communicate, but something I've noticed as I've climbed the ladder in different Elos is the communication (or there lack of) between the players.
Sometimes, it's not needed, however, having a shotcaller in every team isn't a bad idea. We know it can be annoying, especially if the shotcaller is the losing lane, but when you need objectives, you need to tell your team.
Make plays to set up for drag and then ping dragon. Set up a pick so you can Baron or Rift. Type it in chat or ping it and then do it when your team is on the same page.
A little communication outside of the friendly talk can go a long way, and a good shotcaller will put your whole team in a good mood.
Conclusion
In short, being a nice person is the way to go. Your teammates are always more liable to listen to you because you've been a shining light in a fairly toxic community. If you're not too big on words, then just take control by setting up plays and pinging all the right objectives at the right times.
Finally, be smart when you play. Even if one or two lanes are losing, if one lane is winning, there is always a chance. Early game may suck, but mid game is where the momentum is decided, and late game is where it ends. Keep your head up and stay on your toes!
