In order to change the nickname of your player in the MyCareer mode, you will need to have access to the Neighborhood. Once you have access, you need to open the settings menu. Once the settings menu has been opened, you can find the option to change your nickname, your social media handle, as well as some other options. From there, you can change the nickname of your NBA 2K20 player.

As previously mentioned you will need to complete some of the MyCareer mode before being able to do this. Mainly, you need to play through the initial portion of the mode where you play college basketball and prepare for the draft. Afterwards, you will be able to change your name.
