The Golden Corral chain of buffet restaurants will expand in South Florida, opening three locations next year, according to the Fort Lauderdale franchisee group granted development rights.
Value Dining Inc. expects that Golden Corral Corp. of Raleigh, N.C., will approve its choice of sites in Coral Springs, Tamarac and Hialeah in time to open restaurants in the three cities in the second half of 1998, Value Dining President Steve Markley said.
The franchisee plans to open another 10 restaurants in Broward and Dade counties, for a total investment of about $26 million, Markley said. Each of the steakhouses will have 344 seats and employ about 150 people.
In Broward, Value Dining is looking at potential locations in Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, Pembroke Pines, Pompano Beach and Hollywood. In Dade, sites under consideration are in North Miami Beach, Sweetwater, Kendall Lakes, Coral Gables and Cutler Ridge.
There is a company-owned Golden Corral in Homestead.
Markley built four Golden Corrals in the Cleveland area. Other Value Dining principals are Manny Fagundes of Fort Lauderdale; Ronald Singerman, Alan Greenwald and Edward W. Easton of Coral Gables; Jerome and Bernard Herskowitz of Miami; and Gilbert Singerman of Cleveland.
Golden Corral, a privately owned company, has 444 restaurants in 38 states.
