HOLLYWOOD — Continent-hopping pilot Charles Mack, 71, arrived in South Florida on Friday night with little fanfare and a lot of memories.

His trouble-plagued flight from Washington, D.C., to Moscow was delayed, diverted, nearly aborted, and smothered in red tape.

But Mack made it.

In Moscow, he eluded muggers twice, suffered price gouging, bad fuel and more red tape.

But he made it back to North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines in his modified Beechcraft Bonanza, 14 days after taking off from there. Mack intended to spend the holiday at the Hollywood home of his sister, Angie Machin, and rest up for a party in his honor planned for today.
