A fire at a Family Dollar store in Tamarac this weekend was no accident, according to Broward Sheriff’s detectives, who are searching for the arsonist responsible for the crime.

Flames erupted at about 5:17 p.m. on Sunday inside the store at 3150 W. Commercial Blvd. Witnesses told deputies a man walked in, intentionally sprayed an unknown accelerant and ignited the substance.

Customers and employees were able to evacuate, and no one was injured.

Tamarac Fire Rescue, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, and several other fire departments arrived and extinguished the blaze.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
