One Florida team fell out of the Associated Press Poll this week, but another took its place.
Florida Atlantic dropped out of the Top 25 after losing a tight game to USF on Sunday, but surging Florida entered the rankings at No. 24 after winning three consecutive games. It is the first time UF has been ranked all season.
The Owls, who had been ranked all season, dropped out of the poll after being ranked 24th last week but received 27 votes in this week’s rankings. FAU is 20-6 this season, but only 4-4 on the road. The Owls face SMU at home on Thursday; FAU is 10-1 in Boca Raton.
FAU is third in the American Athletic Conference behind USF and Charlotte.
The Gators, on the other hand, moved to 18-7 after beating Georgia on Saturday. Florida has won seven of its past eight games. UF is tied for fifth in the SEC.
Florida entered the rankings for the first time since Dec. 6, 2021. It is the first time the Gators have been ranked under second-year coach Todd Golden.
