Woo plays Gun-woo, a promising boxer who is forced to put his career aside because of his mother’s debt to the vicious loan shark Myung-gil (Park Sung-woong, Snowdrop). He puts his fists to work by working for CEO Choi (Heo Jun-ho, Kingdom), alongside Woo-jin (Lee Sang-yi) and Hyun-joo (Kim Sae-ron). (Netflix, June 9)

2. See You in My 19th Life

In this fantasy drama, Mr. Queen star Shin Hye-sun plays Ban Ji-eum, a woman with the ability to recall her past lives.She is going through her 19th life but, since her previous one was cut so short, she desires to reconnect with the people she knew in the life before – even though they would not recognise her. This includes Moon Seo-ha (Ahn Bo-hyun, Military Prosecutor Doberman), who is still mourning the loss of his first love.The series is directed by Lee Na-jeong, known for Mine and Love Alarm. (TvN, June 17)

3. King the Land

Im Yoon-ah of K-pop girl group Girls’ Generation and Lee Joon-ho from the band 2PM team up for the romantic drama King the Land.

Lee plays Gu Won, the son of a family that runs the King Group, who finds himself embroiled in a major inheritance battle.

In the midst of this fraught stand-off, he meets Cheon Sa-rang (Im), who has just started working at the King Hotel. The hotel was the backdrop for some of her happiest memories as a child, but she is experiencing difficulties in her new position – and then she meets Won.

Im was recently seen in Big Mouth while Lee appeared in The Red Sleeve two years ago. (JTBC, June 17)

4. Mrs. Durian

In the new fantasy period drama Mrs. Durian, a lunar eclipse takes place during a party, opening a portal through time. In the present, the Dan family are celebrating in their home when two women dressed in Joseon era (1392-1897) attire suddenly appear.

Rather than the famed fruit, the show’s title refers to the Joseon era woman Du Ri-an, played by Park Joo-mi. Park appeared in all three seasons of the hit melodrama Love ft. Marriage and Divorce. Mrs. Durian will see her reunite with that show’s writer, Im Sung-han.

The series also stars Choi Myung-gil (Red Shoes) and Kim Min-jun (Hwarang). (Channel A, June 17)

5. Lies Hidden in My Garden

Three years after Hi Bye, Mama!, Kim Tae-hee is back on screens in the mystery drama Lies Hidden in My Garden, which co-stars Lim Ji-yeon of The Glory.

Kim plays Joo-ran, a woman who grew up wealthy and is now married to the doctor Jae-ho (Kim Sung-oh). Their peace is shattered after she begins to notice a strange smell in the back garden.

Her search to identify the smell leads her to Sang-eun (Lim), a woman living a completely different life. She grew up poor and suffers from domestic abuse, until she receives a call one day telling her that her husband is dead. (ENA, June 19)

6. Revenant

Signal and Kingdom writer Kim Eun-hee returns with the occult series Revenant, teaming up for the first time with Twenty-Five Twenty-One star Kim Tae-ri, who takes on the lead role.

Kim plays Ku San-young, a young woman studying to become a civil servant who becomes possessed by a demon after a door to another world opens.

Oh Jung-se (It’s Okay to Not Be Okay) appears as Yeom Hae-sang, a professor specialising in Korean folklore who is able to see the demon tormenting San-young. Together, they try to untangle a mystery tied together by several deaths and five sacred objects. (SBS, June 23)

7. Numbers

Kim Myung-soo and Choi Jin-hyuk lead the new MBC drama Numbers.

Kim is Jang Ho-woo, an accountant at Taeil, a top accounting firm, despite only having a high school degree.

Also working at Taeil is Han Seung-jo (Choi), who has a perfect background and a father, Han Je-gyun (played by Choi Min-soo), who works high up in the firm.

This is the first project for Kim – who is also known by his stage name L as part of the band Infinite – following his military service. Choi is known for shows including Zombie Detective. (MBC, June 23)

8. Heartbeat

Taecyeon of the band 2PM, also one of the stars of Vincenzo, returns in the horror-tinged romantic comedy Heartbeat alongside Won Ji-an (If You Wish Upon Me).

Taecyeon plays Sun Woo-hyeol, a half-human, half-vampire who strongly desires to become completely human.

Woo-hyeol becomes involved with Joo In-hae, a part-time nurse who runs a guest house. The pair begin to live together and gradually fall in love, bringing warmth into each other’s lives. (KBS2, June 26)
